Biography
Grigory Galkin was born on October 11, 1977 in the village of Akshuat (now the Baryshsky District of the Ulyanovsk Region ). In 1995, he was called up for service in the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation. In 1999, Galkin graduated from the Kolomna Higher Artillery Command Engineering School [1] .
At the end of the school in May 1999, he was sent by the commander of a platoon of command and control to the 31st separate guards airborne brigade deployed in Ulyanovsk. In the brigade since August 1999 he fought in Dagestan. He distinguished himself during the hostilities in the Botlikh district, was awarded the Order of Courage. In the spring of 2000 he arrived on a second mission to the Chechen Republic, again showed courage in battles in the Argun, Sharo-Argun, and Vedeno gorges.
He participated in the Second Chechen War , during which he twice commanded to the Caucasus, being the platoon commander of the artillery battery command of the 31st separate airborne brigade. In July 2000 , being a part of the paratroopers unit surrounded by the territory of the Vedensky district of Chechnya , Galkin skillfully corrected artillery fire, which contributed to a successful breakthrough to his own [1] .
Guards Senior Lieutenant Grigory Galkin was awarded the high title of Hero of the Russian Federation with the Golden Star Medal [1] by the decree of the President of the Russian Federation dated February 14, 2001 for the “courage and heroism shown when performing military duty in the North Caucasus region” of the Guard.
He continued to serve in the Russian army, was the commander of the battery of the 99th separate howitzer artillery battalion in the 31st separate Guards brigade. Since 2004, G. N. Galkin - Head of the Department at the Kolomna Higher Artillery Command School. Currently, Lieutenant Colonel G. N. Galkin is in reserve. [2]
