At first he served with Karl the Bold and commanded the Burgundians at the Battle of Montlery (1465) and the capture of Liège (1468).
After his death, Charles went over to the side of Louis XI and at the head of the French troops took part in the battle of Ginegate (1479), and the next year he occupied Luxembourg and signed the Treaty of Arras , according to which Burgundy was annexed to France.
In 1492 he was appointed Marshal and Viceroy of Picardy . There he continued to lead the warrior successfully and took Saint-Omer and Teruana .
