Fabiola Gianotti ( Italian: Fabiola Gianotti ; born October 29, 1960) is an Italian nuclear physicist, ex-spokesman for the ATLAS experiment at the Large Hadron Collider at CERN in Switzerland.

Director General of CERN (since 2016), the first woman in this post [4] . Biography
She received her doctorate in experimental subnuclear physics at the University of Milan . She began working at CERN in 1987, including working on experiments UA2 and ALEPH (Apparatus for LEP PHysics at CERN) at the Large Electron-Positron Collider , the predecessor of the LHC at CERN. Her dissertation was on data analysis for the UA2 experiment. She received a professional musical education in piano at the Milan Conservatory . [eight]
In 1990, she began working in the field of liquid argon calorimetry at the LHC in 1990, she continued this work for ATLAS from 1992, and she also worked in the field of supersymmetry searching for LEP2 from 1996 to 2000.
She is also a member of the Fermilab Advisory Committee, a laboratory of particle physics in Batavia , Illinois . Member of the European Academy (2016) [9] .
Since January 1, 2016, he has been the Director General of CERN (the first woman in history in this position) [10] .
