Karel Kreibich ( Czech Karel Kreibich ; December 14, 1883 , Zvikov , August 2, 1966 , Prague ) - leader of the Czechoslovak and international communist movement, one of the organizers of the Communist Party of Czechoslovakia (1921), publicist and historian of the worker movement.

Biography
Born in 1883 in Zvikovo in a working class family. He graduated from a commercial school. In 1902 he joined the Social Democratic Party of Austria , was an active member of its left wing. For several years he was the editor of the Social Democratic newspaper (in Liberec ), Forverts ( German: Vorwärts ), the only Austro-Hungarian Social Democratic body that condemned the war in 1914.
After 1918, he headed the left wing of German Social Democracy in Czechoslovakia, and took an active part in the creation of the Communist Party of Czechoslovakia (KPC). The delegate of the III Congress of the Comintern ; during this period he adhered to “left” views, for which he was criticized by V. I. Lenin , about which, however, he retained the most positive memories. In 1922, 1924 and 1925 - member of the Executive Committee of the Comintern , in 1924-1928 - member of the International Control Commission. He was later the editor of the journal Communist International . In 1927-1933 he lived in the USSR , published articles “Literary success of a Czech author. Brave soldier Schweik "(" Bulletin of Foreign Literature ", 1928) and" Yaroslav Hasek . Life and Creativity ”(Literature on the World Revolution, 1932).
Member of the Politburo of the Central Committee of the CPC in 1921-1929. In the 1930s, he was not a member of the leading party bodies.
In 1920-1929 he was a deputy of the National Assembly , in 1935–38 he was a member of the Czechoslovak Senate from the CPC.
In 1939-1945 - in exile in the UK , participated in the activities of the Czechoslovak political emigration. In 1941-1945, he was one of the representatives of the HRC in the State Council, an advisory body to the Czechoslovak émigré government in London .
After the end of World War II he returned to Czechoslovakia. In the postwar years he was engaged in scientific work and journalism, wrote a number of essays on the history of the labor movement.
In 1950-1952 he was the ambassador of the Czechoslovak Socialist Republic in Moscow. During the trial of the former Secretary General of the Communist Party Central Committee, Rudolf Slansky (1952) was retired.
He died in Prague in 1966.
