The total length of this gecko is 20 cm. The trunk and tail are light green in color with white, yellowish or brown spots in a dark frame that extend along the spine. The body structure is slim. The belly is white or beige. This gecko has narrow slit-shaped pupils characteristic of most nocturnal and twilight species. The limbs are quite thin with tenacious fingers. The mouth inside is blue.
New Zealand slender gecko lives mainly in dense thickets of shrubs, sometimes in forests. In the daytime, basking in the sun on the leaves. Active during the day. It feeds on insects, spiders, and small invertebrates.
Viviparous lizard. Mating begins in late February - early March. In June - July, the female gives birth to 2 fully formed cubs, which have a length equal to approximately 1/3 of the female's size.
The species is common on the North Island of New Zealand and on several coastal islands.
