The library of Kazan students is a revolutionary organization of students at Moscow University in 1859-1863
The organization was created by people from Kazan University. Among them were students of N. G. Chernyshevsky from the Saratov gymnasium (Yu. M. Mosolov and others).
Students independently published and distributed educational literature. In addition, the “Kazan Students' Library” wrote out progressive journals, bought the works of N. G. Chernyshevsky, P. Zh. Proudhon , L. Blanc .
This legal activity was a cover for a secret political circle. Its leaders were Yu. M. Mosolov, N. M. Shatilov, and others. The circle consisted of up to 50 people, including several officers.
At the beginning of 1861, a circle of Argiropulo- Zaichnevsky stood out from the "Library".
In 1862, the organization, retaining its name, became the Moscow branch of “Earth and Freedom”. The circle maintained contacts with the St. Petersburg center and with the organizations of "Earth and Freedom" in Kazan, Nizhny Novgorod. Some members of the circle were arrested in 1863, brought to trial by the so-called. Andrushchenko’s case.
