Biography

According to medieval genealogies , Ferada poppy Rosa belonged to the septum of Fir Hera , one of the parts of the Connacht family of Wu Fiahrah. The great-great-grandfather of Feradah was Fiahra poppy Ehah , in whose honor this clan got its name. None of the closest ancestors of Feradah owned the throne of Connaught, which in the 5th - first half of the 6th centuries was occupied by representatives of other branches of Ui Fiahrah, as well as members of the Ui Brijun clan [1] [2] .

The Irish annals do not mention the royal status of Feradah poppy Rosa. However, in this capacity he is represented in the list of the Connaught monarchs, which has been preserved as part of the Leinster Book . Here he is named the successor to Ehu Tirmharna , whose death in the Annals of the Tigernach dates from 556 [3] . The list of kings says that Feradah reigned for three years and that after him the throne was occupied by his grandson Mael Kotayd mak Mael Umai [4] . In the poem about the Connaught kings, Ferada is endowed with the epithets “generous” and “justice”.

Modern historians consider it possible to occupy the throne of Connaught by a person not noted in the Irish annals. Probably Feradah poppy Rosa could rule the kingdom for some time between the death of Ehu Tirmharna and the accession to the throne of his son Aeda poppy Ehaha [1] [2] . The last event in the Annals of the Tigernach dates back to 557 [5] .

About the circumstances of the reign of Feradah, poppy Rosa, no information has been preserved in historical sources . Even the date of his death is unknown. In genealogies, it is reported that Feradah had a son, Mael Umai, the father of Mael Kotaida, who lived at the beginning of the 7th century [1] [2] .
