Competitions were held in men's , women 's singles, pair figure skating and in sports dancing on ice . According to the ISU rules of that time, juniors were considered to be boys and girls, as of July 1, 1990, under the age of 19 years (except for men performing in pairs and dancing on ice, their age limit is 21 years).

Interesting Facts

  • It was the first world championship where athletes from the former FRG and GDR competed under the same flag for Germany .
  • For the first time in the World Junior Championship, three namesakes from one country and three namesakes from different countries performed. It was the North Korean people who represented: the loner Kim Se Ul , the greenhouse Kim Jwan Ho and the dancer Kim Yong Ho . The next trio was the Chinese loner Lee Xodon and the singles from the DPRK Lee Ge Ok with South Korea Lee U He .
