Daniel Wayne Sermon was born June 15, 1984 in Salt Lake City, Utah, into a large Mormon family where, in addition to Daniel, he had four more children. Daniel Wayne graduated from Berkeley College of Music , where he honed his guitar playing skills.

Daniel is the guitarist and backing singer of the American band Imagine Dragons, it was here that he became known by his second name, because the band also named Daniel as the singer and drummer, and due to confusion, Sermon was called Wayne.
