Biography

Born in Gantsevichi .

He graduated from high school in Gysin (1974), faculty of management and applied mathematics of the Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology (1980) and graduate school. In 1988 he defended his thesis for the degree of Candidate of Physical and Mathematical Sciences (supervisor A. M. Rubenchik ).

Until 1992 he worked in the Scientific Council on Cybernetics of the USSR Academy of Sciences . Since November 1992, he has worked at the LD Landau Institute for Theoretical Physics , where in 2006 he defended his thesis for the degree of Doctor of Physical and Mathematical Sciences [1] .

Scientific Works

Among the most significant results: together with V.Ye. Zakharov in 1994, a hypothesis was formulated and substantiated about the integrability of the hydrodynamic equations of an ideal free-surface fluid [2] . This hypothesis was the impetus for significant progress in the theory of wind waves, and in particular, new effective nonlinear equations were obtained for describing waves on water (including killer waves ) [3] .

Also, new exact equations were obtained in conformal variables for water waves (Dyachenko equations) [4] , which made it possible to effectively model the formation of killer waves in the ocean ( http://alexd.itp.ac.ru/Freak-0.095-end. avi ) [5] . In addition, in the framework of the Dyachenko equations, a new solution was obtained - a giant breather [6] .
