Biography

Alfred Bruno was born on March 3, 1857 in the city of Paris [2] .

He studied music at the Paris Conservatoire [3] , where he studied cello from Auguste Joseph Francomam , and in composition from Jules Massenet [2] .

Bruno was a great friend of Emile Zola . In particular, he was the main organizer of the grand concert in memory of Zola in 1908 (conducted by George Marti ) [4] .

A. Bruno wrote 14 operas (most on the plot of Zola). In addition, he wrote orchestral compositions, vocal cycles, ballets, and other musical works [2] .

As a critic and art critic, Bruno wrote many works about music, in particular, and about Russian (in 1901 he visited the Russian Empire ), such as in his work entitled " Russische Musik " and published in Berlin in 1905 [3] .

In 1909 he occupied the post of chief inspector of music education [5] .

In 1925, Alfred Bruno became a member of the Institute of France .

Louis Charles Bonavantur Alfred Bruno died on June 15, 1934 in his hometown and was buried in the Batignol cemetery .
