King Faisal International Prize is an international award given annually by , run by the sons of the King of Saudi Arabia, Faisal ibn Abdul-Aziz Al Saud . The first award took place in 1979. Unofficially called the Arab Nobel Prize.
The program of international awards includes five awards:
- Serving Islam (since 1979)
- Scientific works on Islam (since 1979)
- Arabic Language and Literature (since 1979)
- Medicine (since 1982)
- Science (since 1983)
The winners of annual prizes are awarded a certificate, a gold medal and a cash award of $ 200,000.
In the ranking of international scientific awards from IREG (International Ranking Expert Group) among the awards in the interdisciplinary fields of knowledge, the International Faisal Prize is second only to the prizes of Kyoto , Japan and Albert Einstein [1] .
