Criticism
G Gundam's television ratings on Japanese television from 1994-1995 were not very high. According to Nikkei Business Publications , an average of 4.02% of viewers from Tokyo and the Kanto region watched the show during all 49 episodes. The overall rating was higher than the previous Victory Gundam anime series and slightly lower than the subsequent Mobile Suit Gundam Wing . [13] Regarding critical reviews, they were controversial. [14] [15] [16] [17] G Gundam does not use the themes of the military drama of the previous parts, and the general tone of the series is very different, the action takes place outside the main timeline ("The Universal Age"); large-scale armed conflicts were replaced by a martial arts tournament. [17] [18] According to director Yasuhiro Imagawa, he was severely criticized for these decisions by both fans of the series and colleagues. [15] [19] However, later G Gundam was very popular in Japan. [19] [20] [21] [22]
