“ BVN ” (abbreviated from het Beste van Vlaanderen en Nederland , “Best of Flanders and the Netherlands”) is a Dutch-language television station broadcasting abroad. It is produced jointly by NPO and VRT , public television companies of the Netherlands and the Flemish region of Belgium , respectively [1] .

The channel was founded in 1996 jointly by NPO and the Netherlands International Radio ( RNW ), but since 2013, the broadcasting organization has been assigned a separate task by the Dutch government, and it has ceased to participate in the project.
The channel was first called "Zomer-TV" ("Summer-TV") and was created so that the Dutch vacationing abroad could watch broadcasts in Dutch [2] [3] [4]
Previously, all the broadcasts were Dutch, and the name “BVN” meant “het Beste van Nederland” (“The Best of the Netherlands”), but then, when the Flemish region also connected and began to provide financial support and also provide “VRT” production broadcasts ”, The channel was renamed“ het Beste van Vlaanderen en Nederland ”(“ Best of Flanders and the Netherlands ”) [5] .
In March 2007, BVN changed its schedule by starting to broadcast two identical (repeating) 12-hour blocks per day instead of three 8-hour blocks, which provided more space for broadcasting popular Dutch television shows such as Pauw & Witteman and De Wereld Draait Door. "
