Lesser Barn Owl [1] ( lat. Tyto sororcula ) - a bird of prey of the barn owl family; is an endemic of a number of islands of the Molluk archipelago . Nobody has ever met these birds in nature, a scientific description was made on the basis of three skins found on the Tanimbar archipelago and Buru island [2] .

Appearance
Body length reaches 29–31 cm [2] ; wing length - 227—251 mm.
Medium sized owl of the genus Tyto without “ears” -bundles. There is not enough data on sexual dimorphism , but it is known that the wings of females are noticeably longer than the wings of males. The front disc is pale brown, with a thin brown rim and brown spots around black-brown eyes. The beak is creamy yellow. The upper side of the body is gray-brown, with white spots with a black border. The legs are feathered, white, with gray-yellow toes and dark claws.

Voice
An owl emits three short sharp whistles in two seconds or three or four screams, longer and higher.
