Everglades National Park , USA
Mangroves in Florida, due to their sensitivity to negative and sub-negative temperatures, grow in the south of the peninsula; they are confined to the coast from Cape Canaveral in the east around small islands and to Tampa Bay in the west [1] . Significant mangroves of the Banana ( Banana ) and Indian ( Indian ) rivers of Brevard County ( Brevard County ), as well as within the Space Research Center. Kennedy. Mangroves are also found on the southern coasts of Louisiana [2] and Texas [3] .
Around the entrance to Port Everglades and Fort Lauderdale, there are several clusters of thickets of a much denser mangrove forest . Biscayne Bay in Miami Dade County was previously framed by mangroves. Only a few thickets remained from most of them, however, on the Oleta River , an estuary in the north of Miami Dade County, a fairly large section of mangroves, which is currently the state’s recreation area, has survived. Extensive framing thickets of mangroves have been preserved in the southern part of Biscayne Bay and Card Sound , as well as on the leeward side of most of the Florida Keys islands .
The southern tip of the Florida Peninsula is framed by the largest extant mangroves in the continental United States. They cover the entire southern part of the Everglades National Park . This biotope extends from Card Sound in the west through the southern part of Miami Dade County to Monroe and Collier counties, including the Cape Sable region and the area of a thousand islands in the west. This community also includes a number of islets almost exclusively inhabited by mangroves, scattered across the Florida Bay .
The community of mangroves of small islands and Everglades plays an important role as a reproduction site for commercial shrimp islands. Other important species that feed or spend part of their life cycle in this habitat: tarpon , snook (robo), sharp-toothed (yellow) shark, mustachioed nanny shark , snapper , spiny lobster , trout and elops . It is also an exceptional American crocodile habitat.
On the west coast of Florida, there are several scattered thickets of mangroves in the estuaries of the Calusahatchee River and Charlotte Harbor . As well as on the east coast, before they were much more extensive, but fell victim to development. Significant concentrations of mangroves are also found in Sarasota Bay , Lemon Bay , Anna Maria Bay, and the Manatee River estuary. The mangroves of Tampa Bay were also relegated to small isolated thickets.
