Biography
Joseph Morenheim was born on January 1, 1759. The son of Hoffmedik. He studied in Vienna and Dessau, where he received a doctorate in medicine and surgery. In Vienna he was a member of the Masonic lodge [1] . He was called from Austria to Russia in 1783 to the department of midwifery art at the surgical school. Joseph Morenheim was a gofmedik (physician of the court department [2] ), received the baronial dignity of the Roman Empire [3] . Doctor of Medicine (1791), author of a midwife textbook.
He took birth with the Empress Maria Feodorovna . After the birth of her last child, he recommended that she terminate her married life because of the danger that new pregnancies might pose to her health.
Honorary Member of St. Petersburg since 03.03.1791. He first drew attention to the subclavian fossa (a triangular depression limited by the clavicle and adjacent borders of the deltoid muscle and pectoralis major muscle ), which is also called the “ Mohrenheim-Grube ” in his honor [4] .
His son Pavel (2.03.1785 - .08.1832) - diplomat, privy councilor, chamberlain.
