Biography
Mikhail Antonov was born on January 4, 1986 in the city of Izhevsk , Udmurtia . He began to actively engage in cycling in early childhood, was trained at a local youth sports school, at various times he trained under the guidance of such specialists as S. S. Zakharova, A. N. Shishkin, M. G. Vedernikov. Member of CSKA .
He achieved his first serious success in road cycling in 2007, when he won the Russian Youth Championship and took part in the Sochi Grand Prix multi-day race, where he finished third at the starting stage. A year later, he joined the continental department of the Katyusha professional team, participated in the Tour of Normandy in France, in particular, took third place in the seventh stage. A year later, he won in the one-day races “ The Mayor ’s Cup ” and “ Oleg Dyachenko Memorial ” in Moscow, located on the first line in the general classification of the annual multi-day race in the Udmurt Republic.
In 2010, Antonov was a member of the Itera-Katyusha farm club and later in the main team of Katyusha. During this period he performed in many prestigious French races, including won the general classification of Racing in the Andes, took third place at the starting stage of the Tour of Loire and Cher, became the sixteenth in the Tour of Vendée, while at the “Oleg Dyachenko Memorial” he was the eighth, and at the Moscow Grand Prix - the ninth [1] [2] . In the 2011 season, he won the fifth stage of the Tour of Loire and Scher, became the second in the overall classification of the Kosice-Miskolc multi-day race in Hungary, took sixth place in the general classification of the Tour of Slovakia, finished fourth in the second stage of the Tour of Brittany [ 3] .
Antonov spent the 2012 season in the St. Petersburg Lokosfinks team, successfully drove the Vuelta Rioja and Vuelta Lyona in Spain, in the first case he rose to the third position in the general classification, and in the second he received bronze in the third stage. In addition, he came to finish sixth in the fifth stage of the “Portuguese Vuelta”, closed the ten strongest in the stage race Route du Sud. In 2013, the main team of Katyusha started at many prestigious competitions, drove the Vuelta of Castile and Leon , the Vuelta of Burgos , the Vuelta of Asturias, etc., but did not achieve significant achievements in these races, he came to the finish line far from prize positions.
