Biography

Born May 5, 1978 in the village of Shamkhal, Dagestan Autonomous Soviet Socialist Republic . Magomedov was born weak and sick. In childhood, both legs failed, after which Tagir Magomedov's health began to improve slightly. Outwardly, he looked like a completely healthy child, but he had to use a wheelchair [2] .

At the age of 16, Magomedov first took part in school arm wrestling competitions and took first place. A year later, at the republican arm wrestling competitions held in the village of Shamkhal, Magomedov took first place. He trained under the guidance of the honored coach of Russia Hasan Alibekov [3] [2] . Pupil of MSSSSHOR named after Ali Aliyev [4]

In 2001, at the European Championships in Gävle ( Sweden ), Tagir Magomedov won the European Championship in the weight category up to 55 kg (left hand) [5] .

In 2004, at the European Championships in Gdynia ( Poland ), Magomedov fought with both hands, both among ordinary athletes and among the disabled, and won one gold and three silver medals [6] .

In October 2014, Tagir Magomedov participated in the World Armwrestling Championship among athletes with disabilities in the Polish city of Gdansk [4] . Speaking in the weight category up to 70 kilograms, Magomedov won two gold medals and became the sixteen-time world arm wrestling champion [7] .

In December 2015, he became the winner in the nomination Sports for All (disabled athletes) of the Makhachkala Athlete of the Year Award [8] .

In February 2017, at the Russian arm wrestling championship among athletes with a musculoskeletal system lesion, he won a gold and bronze medal in the weight category up to 70 kg [9] .
