Avel Anatolyevich Lekomtsev (March 5, 1933 [1] —1975) is a Soviet metal artist and painter. Bright representative of the Izhevsk Engraving School, founded by L. M. Vasev .

Biography
- Born in 1933 in the family of a village joiner . After the end of World War II, he went to study at the art and craft school in Izhevsk . I tried to enter the specialty "woodcarver", but passed a training course in the specialty "engraver".
- In 1949, after graduating from college, he received the fifth qualification rank and began working at the Gosstamp factory in Perm , then served in the USSR Armed Forces .
- After the end of his service life in 1954 he came to the Izhevsk Mechanical Plant in workshop No. 36 to the group of engravers of the Izhevsk artist L. M. Vasev .
- In 1958, at the age of 25, he was awarded the medal “For Labor Distinction” .
- In the early 60s he was engaged in the execution of government orders, for example, in the preparation of a hunting rifle as a gift to N. S. Khrushchev .
- In 1968 he was awarded the VDNH bronze medal.
- In 1969 he was awarded the badge "Excellence in Socialist Competition of the RSFSR."
- In 1970 he was awarded the medal “For Valiant Labor. In commemoration of the centenary of the birth of V. I. Lenin "
- In 1971 he was awarded the Order of the October Revolution [2]
Creativity
In addition to the decorative decoration of "piece" guns, he was engaged in experiments using non-ferrous metallization , diffusion welding and metal spraying for the decoration of weapons. Developed a method of applying a pattern using metal spraying, applicable for mass production. He tried to borrow the traditions of the Italian weapons school in the technique of fine engraving for his work.
