History
House-Museum of V.I. Lenin
It was opened on October 20, 1940, after the accession of the Karelian Isthmus to the USSR under a peace treaty following the Soviet-Finnish war of 1939-1940 , as the House-Museum of V. I. Lenin .
The museum talked about the period of one of the last undergrounds of the leader, since here, in the house of the Petrograd worker P. G. Parviainen, he hid for several days in August 1917 and wrote the work “The State and the Revolution”.
On April 20, 1958, a monument to Lenin was opened on the museum's territory (sculptors A. I. Dolinenko , A. G. Pliskin , V. I. Tatarovich , G. D. Yastrebenetsky ).
Many famous people visited the Lenin Museum, among them the first secretary of the CPSU Central Committee, N. S. Khrushchev , the first secretary of the Leningrad Regional Committee of the CPSU, V. S. Tolstikov .
Yalkal History and Ethnography Museum
In 1993, the museum was redeveloped and received historical and ethnographic specialization, changed its name to the Yalkala museum-reserve (the Finnish name of the village Ilyichovo until 1948). At present, the museum’s expositions tell about the life of the indigenous population of the Karelian Isthmus, starting from ancient times (5,000 BC), as well as about significant historical events on the Karelian Isthmus. Separate stands tell about the presence of famous people of Russian history in Yalkal, among them G. Plekhanov , A. A. Benois , Sulho Ranta , Y. Nikulin and others.
According to the program of the national-cultural revival of the Finno-Ugric peoples, the complete restoration of the farm is planned.
Since 2000, the museum regularly holds scientific conferences “Baryshnikov's readings” [1] [2] [3] [4] [5] , other scientific and memorial [6] and cultural events.
The museum is surrounded by forest, nearby is Big Simaginskoye Lake , as well as the relic ozovaya ridge (listed in the Red Book of the Leningrad region)
