Eriks Jekabsons ( Latvian. Ēriks Jēkabsons ; genus. April 3, 1959 , Riga ) - Latvian statesman. Minister of the Interior of Latvia (2004–2005).

Biography
In 1978-1980 he served in the ranks of the Soviet army .
In 1983 he was baptized and since then began to play an active role in the life of the Lutheran church. In 1986 he was ordained a pastor . He served in Mezaparks , Katlakalna and in Olaine .
A year later, the USSR State Security Committee became interested in its activities and he was forced to leave the USSR with his family and was deprived of Soviet citizenship.
He lived, studied and worked in the United States . For 13 years he worked as a Lutheran pastor. He lectured in colleges and universities, as well as on television. He is the author of numerous publications in the US in the Latvian English-language press.
In 2001 he returned to Latvia and founded the Latvian public organization “Spiritual Revival of Latvia”. May 25, 2002 at the congress of the Latvian First Party was elected its chairman. From this party he was elected to the Eighth Saeima of Latvia , in which he was vice-speaker, and also worked in a number of committees and working groups.
