Maria Caraher ( born Maria Caraher , born in 1968 in Kallichanne) is a British and Irish public and political activist.

Biography
From youth, she was a member of the Sinn Fein party . She had brothers Fergal and Michael : the first in 1990 was killed by British soldiers, the second worked as a sniper in South Armagh and personally killed nine soldiers [2] .
In 1996, Mary was elected to the Northern Ireland Forum from Newry and Armagh counties, but did not run for the Northern Ireland Assembly [3] . In 1999, she traveled to the United States as a representative of the Committee of Farmers and Residents of South Arm [4] .
Currently, Maria Caraher is the director of the Bunscoil an Iúir Irish-speaking school in Newry [5] .
