Anatoly Ivanovich Leman ( June 1 [13], 1859 , Moscow - September 11 [24], 1913 , St. Petersburg ) is a Russian writer and manufacturer of stringed bow instruments.

Biography

He studied at the Moscow military gymnasium (about which he later wrote "Essays on the Cadet Life") (1879), then in St. Petersburg at the Pavlovsk Military School (where Semyon Nadson was his fellow practitioner) and at the Nikolaev Engineering School . After graduating from the course in 1882, he served in Ivangorod and Novogeorgievsk , but already in 1884 he retired. In 1884 - 1885 He lived in Moscow, edited the magazine " Entertainment ". Then he moved to St. Petersburg in the second half of the 1880s. He was a member of the circle of writers Jerome Yasinsky [1] . During the revolutionary events of 1905 he published the newspaper "Work Week", was brought to trial, but in 1906 he was acquitted. Professionally engaged in billiards . He was also engaged in the manufacture of violins, dental practice, etc.

He published novels and stories in the magazines Observer, Historical Bulletin, World Illustration , and others. He published books The Noble Story ( 1886 ), Kefir ( 1891 ), and others. He also published a textbook entitled Theory of Billiard Game. "( 1884 ), in the Music Publishing House of P. I. Jurgenson released the" Book of the Violin "( 1892 ), followed by a series of various books about this musical instrument. Many of Lehman's judgments were of a pronounced journalistic nature: for example, he called the head of the Russian violin school of Leopold Auer β€œa hater of Russian violin” [2] .

Family

Son - Lehman, Lev Anatolyevich born in 1885, was a close gymnasium comrade of N. S. Gumilev [3] , was fond of poetry. During the First World War, he served in the rank of ensign in the Dukhovshchinsky 267th Infantry Regiment , for distinctions he was awarded the Order of St. Stanislav of the 3rd degree with swords and a bow [4] . He died in 1942 in Leningrad during the blockade [5] .
