TVR HD is a television channel of the Romanian television that broadcasts in high definition from June 1, 2008 . Shows both domestic and foreign programs and films. The television signal is distributed via terrestrial and satellite means in MPEG4 format: in terrestrial format, this duty is assigned to the 54th UHF frequency in Bucharest and cable networks, in satellite format this is provided by the Eurelswat W2 satellite.

Broadcast Format
TVR HD is a Romanian television channel of a new generation, with the help of which a serious step was taken towards the transition to new broadcast formats. The aspect ratio of the screen for TVR HD is 16: 9 with the old standard 4: 3 - the best picture is displayed on LCD and plasma LCD and LED TVs, and the screen resolution is already five times larger. For sound, the Sunet Surround 5 + 1 system is used.
Broadcast availability
The channel is available on the territory of Romania as free-to-air without any subscriber or other form of payment, or is paid on cable or IPTV networks. In the case of free-to-air, it is available for broadcasting on the territory of Bucharest within a radius of 100 km on the 54th UHF frequency (thanks to the Kibirit receiver) or in Mercury-Sibului on the 39th channel. It is also available for satellite broadcasting thanks to Eutelsat W2 and SESAT satellites (16 degrees east longitude), a Set Top Box type receiver and Viacess map.
As part of the paid package, TVR HD is delivered along with 16 other HD channels in Romania in one of three cases:
- digital or cable broadcasting (providers RCS & RDS , UPC and Romtelecom )
- satellite broadcasting (providers RCS & RDS and Romtelecom )
- IPTV (providers RCS & RDS , INES IPTV and Romtelecom )
Shown Shows
The channel covers all significant international events (including cultural and sports). So, the first sporting events shown on TVR HD were the matches of the 2008 European Football Championship and the Beijing Olympics competitions. He has the right to show Formula 1 races and UEFA Champions League matches . Among other major events, the Eurovision Song Contest , the New Year Concert of the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra stand out; also this channel showed live the wedding of Prince William and Catherine Middleton .
The channel shows programs and films produced by Romanian television or other Romanian television stations and film studios, as well as foreign programs and films, the rights to which were specifically redeemed.
