Biography

Born October 29, 1906 in Kostroma in the family of an engineer. In 1918 she moved to Zhytomyr with her parents, from where in 1921 she moved to Poland. She lived for a short time in Prague, where she graduated from a Russian gymnasium, then studied at the French Institute in Prague. From the beginning of the 30s of the XX century she worked as a secretary. At the same time, she studied at the courses of nurses. In 1939 she moved to France, where she began to work in one of the Paris hospitals. Since 1942, she worked as a secretary for the Russian emigrant public figure and poet Kirill Pomerantsev . After the liberation of France, she worked in the editorial office of the Défense de la France newspaper since 1944. Since 1945, she worked as a secretary in the Exarchate of Western Europe of the Moscow Patriarchate.

Helped her husband Leonid Uspensky in his work, editing his main work, The Theology of the Icon. She was engaged in translations into Russian of European Orthodox theologians. She was buried in the cemetery of Sainte-Genevieve-des-Bois near Paris.
