Vladimir Ivanovich Malyshev ( July 10 [23], 1910 , Narovchat Penza Province - May 2, 1976, Leningrad ) - Soviet literary critic , archaeographer , doctor of philological sciences. Researcher of ancient Russian literature, connoisseur and collector of ancient manuscripts, who revived the work on searching for old Russian manuscripts, which had ceased after 1917, organizer of archaeographic expeditions, founder of the Treasury of the Pushkin House . Honored Scientist of the RSFSR . Member of World War II.

Biography

 
The house in which V. I. Malyshev lived in Narovchat (on this place was the house in which the writer A. I. Kuprin was born and lived)

From a family of peasants of the Penza province. He studied at the Narovchatka secondary school. At ten, he lost his parents, lived with his father's sister. In 1928 he moved to Leningrad.

In 1939 he graduated from the philological faculty of Leningrad State University . The first scientific publication appeared in 1940.

From August 1941 to February 1946 he was in the ranks of the Red Army , fought on the Leningrad Front , was wounded three times. [one]

In 1968, Malyshev ’s dissertation, “Research and research on the literary heritage of Ancient Russia,” was counted as a doctoral one in the aggregate of his works.

The main works of Malyshev are associated with the discovery and study of new manuscripts and monuments of ancient Russian literature. Of particular importance are articles on the study of the heritage of Archpriest Avvakum .

Malyshev revived the work of finding ancient Russian manuscripts from the population. Founder of the Pushkin House wood repository, which by 1976 totaled more than 7 thousand manuscripts of the 12th-19th centuries. The result of an archaeographic survey of the river basin . Pechora in the region of Ust-Tsilma was Malyshev 's book "Ust-Tsilemsky manuscripts of the XVI-XX centuries." (1960).

In 1976, the Repository of Old Russian Manuscripts of the Pushkin House was given the name of its founder - “The Ancient Repository named after V. I. Malyshev” [2] .
