Biography
Hille Pearl (real name Hildegard Pearl) was born in Bremen in 1965 [1] . She grew up in a musical family. Her father (musicologist, harpsichordist and organist ) Helmut Pearl specialized in the study of Mozart's work. Hille Pearl first took lessons from Niklas Trüstedt in Berlin , then studied in Hamburg with Ingrid Stump. She graduated in 1990 from Akademie für Alte Musik in Bremen , where she studied with Jaap ter Linden .
Hille Perl performed with ensembles such as the Freiburg Baroque Orchestra and the Balthazar Neumann Ensemble. She gives concerts [2] as a soloist or in a duet with Li Santana , a performer on the lute and theorbe , with whom she has been collaborating since 1984 . In 2001, she founded the ensemble “Los Otros” [3] with him and guitarist Steve Player, which conducts tours and recorded several albums. Hille Pearl works with The Sirius Viols and The Age Of Passions. In 2005, she created Barocktrio with Lee Santana and flute player Maurice Steger. Repeatedly toured in Russia . In October 2014, she performed in the Small Hall of the St. Petersburg Philharmonic with the program “Dreams and Dances of Louis XIV . The music of the court of Louis XIV . "
In addition to concert performances, she has been recording since 1997 on the German label Harmonia Mundi [4] . Collaborates with Sony BMG and German labels Carpe Diem Records and Haenssler Classic. Her records have repeatedly won high international awards.
Hille Pearl has been teaching since 2002 at the Hochschule für Künste in Bremen .
Hille Pearl is married to lute player Lee Santana . Her daughter, Martha Pearl, is also a professional musician ( viola and gamba performer).
About the work of Hille Pearl, director Christian Kurt Weisz made a 43-minute documentary film “Hille Perl and the Queen of String Instruments” (“Hille Perl und die Königin der Streichinstrumente”), which was first shown on Arte on July 24, 2011 [5] [6 ] ] .
