Biography
Semyon Kolesnikov was born in 1893 . In 1929 he graduated from the Gorki Agricultural Academy , after which he was sent to work in forestry. He began his work as a forest warden, later managed a number of timber industry enterprises, the Moglesprom trust, the forest department of the Mogilyov regional committee of the KP BSSR. He participated in the battles of the Great Patriotic War as a deputy commander of the road maintenance regiment [1] .
After the liberation of the Byelorussian SSR, Kolesnikov was recalled from the front and sent to work as the Commissioner of the Main Guard at the Council of People's Commissars in the Republic. An active participant in the post-war restoration of the national economy. After the transformation of the Main Forest Protection Board into the Ministry of Forestry of the Byelorussian SSR, he was appointed first minister; during this period, Hero of the Soviet Union Vasily Korzh served as his deputy for personnel. He died suddenly from a heart attack on May 25, 1949, and was buried in the presence of a large number of people at the Minsk Military Cemetery [1] .
