Biography
Occurred from the Don Cossacks.
After graduating from Novocherkassk gymnasium with a gold medal in 1866, he entered the medical faculty of Kharkov University . Having stayed at this university for three years, I switched to the 4th year of the Medical-Surgical Academy , which I graduated from in 1871 with eximia cum laude . Upon completion of the course was left at the Academy for 3 years for improvement, and consisted of a junior clinical intern at the Clinical Military Hospital. At this time, he was also engaged in the ophthalmology clinic of Professor E. A. Junge and in 1873 was awarded the degree of doctor of medicine for his thesis "On the question of the point of rotation in the eyes of various refractions."
In early 1875, he was sent on a foreign trip, which lasted two and a half years. At this time, Khodin visited the most famous ophthalmological clinics in Western Europe, and also did special research in several offices and clinics, including: physiological cabinets of the Jena and Graz , clinics of Paris, Vienna and Heidelberg . Upon returning from abroad, at the end of 1877, he was appointed as an assistant at the eye clinic of the Mikhailovsky Clinical Hospital of the Baronet Villiers, and in early 1878 he was promoted to assistant professor of ophthalmology at the Medical-Surgical Academy.
On June 17, 1881, he was elected an extraordinary professor of ophthalmology at St. Vladimir's University and head of an eye clinic. May 27, 1885 was approved as an ordinary professor in the department. At the same time, he was a consulting physician at the Fundukleyev Women's High School and at the hostel of Countess Levashova. In 1895 he was promoted to actual state councilor .
In addition to individual works, he published a number of articles in the Military Medical Journal , Medical Journal and Vrache, some of which were translated into German. He compiled essays on the Russian ophthalmological literature for 1882 for the French magazine Revue générale d'Ophtalmologie. In 1884 he began to publish the journal " Journal of Ophthalmology " in Kiev and remained its permanent editor-publisher for 20 years.
In 1904, due to Khodin's disease, his pupil A. F. Shimanovsky was elected an extraordinary professor in the department of ophthalmology, and the editors of the Ophthalmology Bulletin were transferred to Moscow, where Professor A. A. Kryukov became the editor-in-chief.
He died in 1905. He was married and had no children.
