Common Eater , or Orcillata [2] ( lat. Monōtropa hypōpitys ), is a species of dicotyledonous plants of the genus Eelicaceae of the family Ericaceae ( Ericaceae ). The current taxonomic name was published by the Swedish systematist Carl Linnaeus in 1753. [3]

Content
Distribution and habitatOccurs in wet mixed and coniferous forests. The area is Europe , North America (to Mexico ), Afghanistan , Bhutan , India , Japan , the Korean Peninsula , Mongolia , Myanmar , Nepal , Pakistan , Russia , Thailand , countries of South-West Asia [4] . In Russia, it is distributed in the European part, in the Urals and in Siberia [2] .

Leaves scaly, fleshy, yellow, or simple; leaf shape - triangular, elongated or ovoid, leaf tip rounded, base truncated.
Raceme inflorescence . Flowers 1-2 cm in size with four or five petals of white or yellow color with shades.
The fruit is a box of brown color [2] .
EcologyShade-tolerant mesophyte. Mostly parasitic plant, parasitic on fungi that form ectomycorrhiza with conifers, less often deciduous species [2] .
