Story

The story of Mega Man & Bass varies slightly depending on the character's choice. It begins when a villain robot named King breaks into Dr. Wiley’s laboratory and the Robot Museum to collect data drawings created by Dr. Light. Dr. Light warns Megamen that he must go straight to the Robot Museum to confront this new enemy. Meanwhile, Bass hears about the emergence of a new criminal and decides to prove that he is a stronger robot to defeat King. Protomen is the first to arrive at the scene. King reveals his plan to him: he gives out a utopia in which robots rule the world over people. To achieve this, King seeks to create an irresistible army using his data and invites Protomen to join him. Protomen refuses to fulfill King’s demand and tries to attack him, but King cuts Protomen in half with his reed. Protomen is then teleported back to the laboratory for repair, and King runs away with the data, entrusting his minions to cope with the heroes. With their own motivations, Megamen and Bass set out to put an end to King's plans.

After the victory of eight powerful robots under allegiance to King (Cold Man, Astro Man, Ground Man, Magic Man, Tengu Man, Dynamo Man, Pirate Man and Burner Man), Megamen and Bass penetrate their castle and draw him into battle. Protomen interrupts the battle and again tries to defeat his new Nemesis. After entering all his remaining energy, as a result of the explosion, Protomen manages to destroy King in order to protect him and he loses consciousness. King asks the question why they cope with such difficulties for humans, when he considers robots to be excellent species. Two explain that people are the ones who created robots, which, in the first place, confused King. King proves that its creator is Dr. Wiley, who appears on the video monitor. When King asks Wiley why robots are fighting each other for the sake of humans, Wiley brainwashes him. Megamen and Bass engage with King in another battle and defeat him, but not earlier than the last Protomens teleports from their castle. The castle begins self-destruction and the main characters are forced to flee without King.

Megamen and Bass began the final battle with Dr. Wiley in his newly restored laboratory. When Wiley is beaten, Bass wants to know why he tricked him. Wiley explains that he created King to test Bass's abilities. Dr. Wiley shows him the written plans for creating a new version of King, in order to join Bass in this venture, promising that the two invincibles will be together. A protomene appears and immediately destroys these plans. Wiley demands Bass to destroy Protomen, but Bass is not so sure. It was then that Protomen tells Bass that although he is a strong robot of free will, he will never be able to defeat his rival, because he has no relationship for which it is necessary to fight. Bass doesn't care about him and Protomen’s strength is running out, saying that he will continue to destroy Megamen to prove his cause. Megamen returns home, where his sister Roll presents him with a letter from King, who somehow escaped the destruction of his castle. King wishes to atone for his own crimes against humanity and hopes for friendship if they were to meet in the future.

Interesting Facts

  • The game uses the artistic style of Mega Man 8 , but with a lower resolution, the image is enlarged in the playing field from Mega Man 7 . The graphics at each stage widely refer to the scene from Mega Man 8:
  1. The Cold Man Robot Boss Stage resembles the Frost Man Robot Boss Stage.
  2. The Burner Man robot boss stage resembles the Search Man robot boss stage
  3. The Pirate Man robot boss stage resembles the Aqua Man robot boss stage.
  4. The Ground Man Robot Boss Stage resembles the Sword Man Robot Boss Stage.

  • In some levels, a scorching wave can destroy ice blocks, like the trick from the stage of the robot boss Blizzard Man from Mega Man 6 .
  • Cold Man is the lightest boss robot in the game, where it is best to win first. It is restored against its own weapons.
  • Burner Man is the most difficult boss robot in the game, because at its level there are a bunch of spikes and traps, as well as enemies who drop a bomb from the surface, which creates a wave of flame that instantly kills Megamen or Bass. In the battle room with the robot boss, there are also spikes that must be pushed into the ice wall for quick destruction. In addition, Burner Man uses electric traps, from which Megamen or Bass is immobilized for several seconds.
