Spire (magazine)

“Spire!” (From German spiel! - play! ) - Ukrainian monthly Russian-language game magazine [2] , aimed at young people, gamers , supporters of computer technology, cinema and anime . It has been published since May 2001. The motto of the magazine: " You and I are of the same blood ." In 2009, the circulation of the magazine was 30,000 copies [3] . In November 2015, the magazine suspended the print version and continued to exist as an online publication [4] .

History

In May 2001, the first issue of Spire!

In February 2003, the editorial board of the magazine, its founder, Andrey Gaydut, left.

From 2003 to 2007, the magazine published special issues dedicated to individual games or topics.

In 2004, "Spire!" Opened its own website shpil.com.

In 2006, the magazine was one of the sponsors of the FIFA 06 tournament in Lviv - Karpaty Summer Cup 2006 [5] .

In 2007, the magazine switched from CD format to DVD

In April 2009, the issue of the magazine ceased [3] [6] , but two months later in June of that year, a new issue was released.

Since July 2010, “Spire!” Began to cooperate with the QTV channel.

In June 2011, “Spire!” Changed the site [7] - shpil.com.ua.

August 17, 2013 at the iGames exhibition was held "Spire-Day" [8] .

Since October 2014, the magazine has ceased to be published with a DVD disc , and has increased by 20 pages.

Since 2016, the magazine has ceased to appear in print [4] .

The magazine contains many sections, which can appear both in each issue, and after a certain number of issues. Includes the following headings:

ESports Support

“Spire!” In its history has organized several e-sports competitions, including the FIFA 06 championship in Lvov [12] . Also, as part of the Korean Wave 2015 festival, in Kiev, the ShpilCyberCup 2015 tournament was held in the Counter-Strike: Global Offensive discipline, where local teams competed [13] .
