Biography
Miguel Chavez studied music from early childhood. He studied at the Havana Conservatory named after Amadeo Roldan Conservatory in piano, vocals. His teacher was the famous Cuban composer, guitarist and conductor Leo Brower ).
In 1977, the USSR released the album "Miguel Chavez (Cuba)" (S60-08605-6). Then in the USSR came the prefabricated vinyl “Variety of Socialist Countries I” (C60-12235-6), on which 2 songs from a solo album were repeated. In 1978, Chavez participated in the 7th Internationales Schlager-Festival Dresden 1978 ( GDR ) festival, where he received the first prize for the song Der Ruf der Berge (Call of the Mountains) [1] , ahead of the participants of this festival that year, the Illesch group, Ekaterina Surzhikova , Irena Yarotska, Margarita Hranova and losing only to “Carat”. In 1982, Chavez also visited the Golden Orpheus, taking a special prize there. He toured the USSR in the 80s, visiting in particular in 1985 Kislovodsk, where he performed at the stadium.
At the request of the Ministry of Culture of the USSR, he recorded the record “From Cuban to International”.
Since 2004, Miguel Chavez has been living in Madrid , continuing his artistic career as a singer and composer, as well as a pianist. His concerts are attended by his daughter, singer Mila Chavez.
