Arzamas Compound

Arzamas Compound is one of the three farmsteads of the Holy Trinity Seraphim-Diveevo Monastery . Located in the city of Arzamas and includes two temples: in honor of the Nativity of Christ and in honor of the Smolensk Icon of the Mother of God .

Content

History

Smolensk Church was built in 1797 . The Church of the Nativity of Christ was built in 1845 - 1852 according to the project of architect Konstantin Ton .

In 1939, the Christmas Church was closed, and the building was then transferred to the bakery. In 1981, it was transferred to the Gorky Special Research and Production Workshop, after which its reconstruction began.

The ruined ensemble of the Smolensk Church was transferred to the monastery in 1998 . [one]

On January 17, 2011, Archbishop George in the Church of the Nativity of Christ consecrated the third chapel in honor of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker and the Rev. Martyr Evdokia. [2] In the same year, the restoration of the Smolensk Church began. [3] [4]

August 14, 2016, on the day of the celebration of the Origin of the Honest Trees of the Life-giving Cross of the Lord, the consecration of the temple in honor of the Smolensk Icon of the Mother of God took place. The rite of the Great consecration of the temple was made by the Metropolitan of Nizhny Novgorod and Arzamas George. [5] On May 19, 2018, the chapel was consecrated in the name of the Apostle and Evangelist John the Theologian. [6]
