The first representative of the Manliev clan to reach the consulate. In the historical literature, it has been suggested that the Cincinnatus cognominism , mentioned by three late sources [2], arose as a result of an error, since in addition to this case it was worn only by members of the Quincius family. F. Münzer suggested that, in fact, Mannius is the cognitive Wolson , and Cincinnatus was called the consul-suffix appointed in his place. R. Broughton disputes this assumption, pointing out that under the corresponding year, there is not enough space for the consul-suffix on the stone where the Capitoline fasts are carved, and not a single source mentions it [3] .

In 480 BC. e. was consul along with Mark Fabius Vibulan . In that year, the plebeian stands Tiberius Pontificius made a draft land law, and in order to get it examined, he tried to disrupt the military recruitment. Bowing to his side several of his colleagues, the Senate oligarchy blocked all of these initiatives. Having gathered considerable strength, both consuls opposed the Weynts and gave them battle under the walls of Wei . Manlius, commander of the right wing, forced the Etruscans, but was soon wounded and returned to the camp. Having lost the commander, the Romans began to retreat; a reserve unit of the Weynts attacked the camp, and the consul was killed during his defense [4] .
