In the north and west it borders with the administrative district of Mecca , in the north-west with the administrative district of Al-Baha , in the north-east with the administrative district of Riyadh , in the south-east with the administrative district of Najran , in the south-west with Jizan administrative district, in the south - with Yemen .

From 1916 to 1928, Asher was an independent emirate . In 1928, absorbed by Nejd .
