Andrei Petrovich Redkin ( 1875 - 1966 ) - Soviet scientist in the field of livestock farming and agronomy, Honorary Academician of the Agricultural Academy, Hero of Socialist Labor ( 1965 ).

Biography
Andrey Redkin was born on October 13, 1875 in the city of Krolevets (now Sumy region of Ukraine ). After graduating from high school, he worked as a courier. In 1898, Redkin graduated from the Kharkov Agricultural School, after which he worked in the departments of agriculture of various provinces. In the 1920s, he worked at experimental stations. Since 1930, he lived and worked in Moscow , was a consultant to the Glavsvinovod association, a research fellow at the Institute of Meat and Dairy Industry and the All-Union Institute of Animal Husbandry [1] .
He was actively studying the problems of pig farming . He was the author of a large number of scientific works in the field of breeding, breeding, feeding. Under his leadership, the Kalikin and Murom pig breeds were bred, which showed high productivity in central Russia. During the Great Patriotic War, he was engaged in writing the textbook “Pig Production”, which subsequently withstood fourteen reprints in the USSR and was published abroad. For his great achievements in agricultural science, Redkin in 1946 was awarded the title of Honored Scientist of the RSFSR [1] .
Since 1956, Redkin taught at the K.A. Timiryazev Moscow Agricultural Academy , headed the pig breeding department, and was approved as a professor . In addition, he was elected an honorary academician of VASKHNIL [1] .
By a decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of December 2, 1965, Andrei Redkin was awarded the title of Hero of Socialist Labor with the Order of Lenin and the Hammer and Sickle Medal " [1] .
He died on July 19, 1966, was buried at the Novodevichy cemetery in Moscow [1] .
He was also awarded the Order of the Red Banner of Labor and a number of medals [1] .
