Biography
Born in Dublin ( Ireland ) on October 22, 1970. His father was a doctor, his mother was a housewife. Johnny is the eighth child in the family. He was a very restless and curious child, constantly falling into history. After school, Johnny entered Trinity College in Dublin with a degree in Philosophy and Russian. As a result, in 1993, he first came to Moscow under a student exchange program. In the 1990s, he worked as a journalist in Moscow and Dublin, and then received a cinematographic education at New York University. In 1997, in New York, he wrote the script and shot his first short film Empire State . Since then, Johnny has been constantly involved in the television and film industries, where he has earned a reputation as a professional screenwriter and director of documentaries, commercials and films, including the short film The Terms . This work won 21 prizes at international film festivals and was shortlisted for an Oscar in 2003. In 2005, Johnny, along with Mike Figgis, wrote the script and directed the experimental feature film CO / MA . Johnny was also selected as a screenwriter for Moonstone and North by Northwest. Since 2006, Johnny has been living and working in Moscow, participating in various Russian and foreign film projects as a director and producer. In 2011, as a director and co-author of the script, he participated in the creation of the thriller “ Hide! " in Russian. After that, Johnny began work on the script for the film Moscow Never Sleeps . This project is in Russian with the participation of top actors in Russian theater and cinema, in which Johnny is not only the author of the script, but also the director and producer.

Ireland Week
In 2006, Johnny O'Reilly, together with Jerry McCarthy, founded the first Irish Film Festival in Moscow, which took place at the Khudozhestvenny movie theater. This film festival became an annual event and was subsequently held at such iconic Moscow cinema sites as the Gorizont cinema (2007), 35mm (2008), and the Central House of Artists (2012-2014). Since 2013, thanks to Johnny’s acquaintance with Ivan Dontsov, the Irish Film Festival has become the Irish Week in Moscow, which already includes several genres in which Irish artists create. There are sections of modern and folk music ( Ticket To Dublin ) and ( Day & Night and Bards Of Bedlam ), a stand-up festival ( MicFest ), as well as a festival for children ( MixedArts ).
