He played the characteristic supporting roles, mostly negative characters in erotic comedies , spaghetti westerns and horror films . Since the 1970s, he has also directed horror films, including in his own scripts.
Biography
Alfredo Rizzo was born on January 2, 1902 in Nice. He began his acting career with a vaudeville and revue, in which he played along with his brother Carlo Rizzo and comedian . The trio was popular with viewers in 1930-1945, the heyday of the variety show genre [2] [3] .
He made his film debut in 1939 in the film “ ”( ital. Lo vedi come sei ... lo vedi come sei? ), but was not indicated in the credits. From 1946 to 1960, he starred in numerous comedy and dramatic films in which his partners were Toto , Hugo Tonyazzi , , Aldo Fabrizi , Vittorio De Sica , , and . He played in the films “ Roman Vacations ” by William Wyler , “ Bread, Love and Fantasy ” by Luigi Comencini , “ Sweet Life ” and “ Clowns ” by Federico Fellini . The directors invited the actor to supporting roles and trusted him only negative characters [2] [3] .
In 1960, together with his brother Carlo Rizzo, he founded the company “Rizzo Brothers - Franca Volpi”. In the 1970s, he starred in several erotic comedies that were popular with viewers. From 1971 to 1978, he directed several horror films as a director. The scripts of some of these paintings were written by himself. His directorial work has not received recognition from film critics. In 1986, he completed his acting career, starring in the film "Night Foxes" [2] [3] [4] .
Alfredo Rizzo died on September 6, 1991 in Rome. The memorial service for the actor was held in the Basilica of the Virgin Mary in Domnica [4] .
