Story
The action takes place in the Ukrainian village of Gorbachi in the fall of 1929 , on the threshold of the first five-year plan .
Who is older, let him remember who is younger - imagine ... The first cubic meters of concrete for the Dneproges dam, the First collective farms, the first drummers at factories and mines ... The enemies foreshadowed the failure of the five-year plan , screaming about devastation and hunger.
There was really not enough bread in the country ...
In the midst of preparing bread in accordance with the established quotas, Antin Chirva’s fist buries 600 pounds of grain into the ground so as not to sell it to the state at a fixed price.
A communist Gregory Dudar arrives in the village to organize grain procurements. His first charges and votes are defeated because of the provocations of the kulaks, then he manages to win over the poor villagers to his side.
A separate line of the film is the relationship of Gritsk, the son of Chirva, and Oksana. Under the contemptuous look of his girlfriend Gritsko gives a place where his father's grain is buried, for which he receives the location of Oksana and the curse of his father.
So the village of Gorbachi stepped over the threshold of the first five-year plan in the history of mankind.
