Jozef Wieniawski , Joseph Iosifovich Wieniawski ( Polish. Józef Wieniawski ; May 23, 1837 , Lublin - November 11, 1912 , Brussels ) - Polish pianist and composer. Brother Henryk and Julian Wieniawski. The twin brother of Alexander Wieniawski [5] , whose son was the composer Adam Tadeusz Wieniawski .

Biography
Of the assimilated Jewish family — father, mother’s grandfather and uncle were doctors [6] . He studied at the Paris Conservatory with Pierre Zimmermann and Antoine Marmontel , as well as with Charles Valantin Alkan (composition and chamber ensemble). Since 1853 , he studied in Weimar with Franz Liszt , then improved his composer skills in Berlin with Adolf Bernhard Marx .
From childhood, Jozef Wieniawski gave a lot of concerts (including a duet with his brother Henryk) in France and other European countries. In 1866 - 1869 he was a professor at the Moscow Conservatory . Since 1870 , he lived and worked in Warsaw, was one of the founders of the Warsaw Music Society, in 1875 - 1877 . led him; the creation of a mixed choir in society dates back to this time, to work with which Wieniawski drew Alexander Mikhalovsky . From 1878 until the end of his days, he was a professor at the Brussels Conservatory .
As a pianist, Wieniawski was known, in particular, for the propaganda of Frederic Chopin's work, including the performance of all his sketches and concerts entirely composed of Chopin music [7] . Among the performers with whom he performed in the ensemble were Joseph Joachim , Leopold Auer , Alfredo Piatti and other leading musicians of the era.
He was buried in the cemetery of Ixelles in a suburb of Brussels.
Creativity
Among Wieniawski’s compositions, piano music prevails in the genres developed by Chopin: etudes, waltzes, polonaises, mazurkas, ballads; On the whole, the Weniawski composer acted as a propagandist and popularizer of Polish musical culture abroad, combining the following of the Chopin tradition with the use of harmonious and compositional innovations of his time [8] .
Wieniawski also owns several large-scale compositions: symphony in D Major (Op. 49, 1890 ), Piano Concerto in G Minor (Op. 20, 1859 ), Sonatas for Violin and Piano (Op. 24) and Cello and Piano (Op. 26 ), overture "William the Silent" ( Fr. Guillaume le Taciturne ; Op. 43, 1887).

Most of Wieniawski’s published works are recorded today.
The concert was recorded several times. In volume 52 of the series “Romantic Piano Concert” by Hyperion Records , Hamish Milne recorded with the Scottish BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra conducted by Michal Dvořinsky (the second concert by Hermann Goetz is also recorded on the disc).
In 2008, the Polish company recorded a disk with piano compositions by Wieniawski performed by Polish pianist Tomasz Kamieniak. The record received an award for popularizing forgotten Polish music. The second disc, which includes compositions for piano in both two and four hands, was recorded in 2013 (performers Valentina Seferinova and Venus Boykova). The same company released the recording of the symphony and overture “William the Silent” (Orkiestra Symfoniczna Filharmonii Podkarpackiej im. Artura Malawskiego, conductor Piotr Wajrak).
