Chirko-Kem [2] [3] ( outdated. Chirka-Kem [4] ) is a river in the north of Karelia , the right tributary of the Kemi river ( White Sea basin ).

The river is 221 [4] km long and its catchment area is 8270 [4] km². It originates from the confluence of the Kem and Chirka rivers on the West Karelian Upland. In its course passes a series of lakes, flows into Lake Yushkojärvi . The height of the mouth is 89.9 [5] m above sea level.
Snow and rain food. The average annual flow rate is about 81 m³ / s. Depth usually does not exceed 3 meters.
Non-navigable due to the large number of rifts and rapids, most of which do not freeze. The noise of the “Pot” threshold is heard over 3 km. The largest threshold is Tahko Padun. Usually freezes at the end of October - November, opens at the end of April - May.
The water is dark, visibility no more than 5 meters. River rafting on an industrial scale has not been conducted since the 1980s. Flora and fauna is common for rivers and lakes of Karelia.
The river is of great interest for sports tourism; it is located in the border zone of the Russian Federation. There are only two settlements in the coastal zone: the village of Borovoy and the village of Yushkozero .

- At 220 km from the mouth, on the right bank of the river flows the Chirka River.
- 220 km from the estuary, the Kem River flows into the left bank of the river.

According to the state water register of Russia, it belongs to the Barents-Belomorsky basin district , the Kem river water sector from the Yushkozersky hydroelectric complex to the Krivoporozhsky hydroelectric complex , there is no river sub-basin. The river basin - the river basins of the Kola Peninsula and Karelia, flows into the White Sea [4] .
