Canon logarithmorum
Developing the ideas of John Napier , he compiled and published the first reference tables of decimal logarithms : in 1617 - 8-digit ("Logarithmorum chilias prima"), 1624 - 14-digit ("Arithmetica logarithmica"). For this work in England at one time they even called decimal logarithms brigs . Tables of decimal logarithms of trigonometric functions compiled by Briggs were also published in 1633 .
In 1935, a crater on the moon was named in honor of Briggs.
