Mnet (short for Music Network ) is a South Korean cable music television channel [1] [2] . The owner is CJ E&M (a division of the CJ Group holding) [3] [4] .

Concept
Mnet can be called Korean MTV . His thematic area is Korean pop music ( K-pop ) [1] [2] , the target audience is youth.
Located in Sangam Dong, Mapo-gu, Seoul, CJ E&M Center is the center for broadcasting and recording many Mnet programs with a studio audience, namely the live weekly music show M Countdown . It is also the place for live performances on survival shows such as Show Me The Money , Unpretty Rapstar , Produce 101 (season one and two), Idol School , Produce 48 and Produce X 101 . A global website called Mnet Global changed to MWave in April 2013. Other sites from Mnet are not affected by this change.
Title
Previously, the name was spelled "m.net" [2] .
The international (English) version of the channel’s website (global.mnet.com) has developed into a popular site dedicated to Korean pop music, and since April 2013 it has been rebranded - it was renamed to “Mwave” and is now positioned as the number one website dedicated to Korean pop music in the world.
Transmissions
One of the channel’s most famous music programs is M! Countdown [1] . The annual Mnet Asian Music Awards (abbr. MAMA) is held annually; it is one of South Korea’s largest music awards [5] [6] .
