History
By 1964, the song was already recorded by several performers (including Frank Sinatra ), but the song did not achieve much success. In the same year, Lane performed a piano session for Dean Martin's Dream with Dean album. As there was still an hour of studio time, Lane invited Dean Martin to record this short song. The piano in combination with a guitar , drum and bass makes this song a relatively quiet, calm jazz version of the song. Martin sang this song on the Bob Hope radio show in 1948 .
Almost immediately afterwards, Dean Martin re-recorded the tune for his next album, this time with an orchestra and choir. His label, Reprise Records , was delighted with the potential of this version.
Dean Martin, although he remained one of the main performers of this song, but could not get into the Top 40 hits since 1958 due to the British invasion , which was ruled by the American charts. Few hoped that a middle-aged Italian pop singer could be popular with teenagers. And yet, contrary to doubt, Everybody Loves Somebody took off right to the top of the Billboard Hot 100 and Hot Adult Contemporary Tracks , staying on top for eight consecutive weeks [1] . The song was so identified with Dean Martin that later cover versions from 1965 to 1974 were less popular.
Martina was indignant at rock and roll, and this discrepancy in taste with his 14-year-old son Dean Paul Martin led to a conflict, because Dean Paul, like many teenagers in the Western world, was fond of The Beatles . He told his son that his song would beat The Beatles [2] and on August 15, 1964, Everybody Loves beat The Beatles A Hard Day's Night by one line on Billboard.
