Biography
The son of the famous aviator Gaston Tassandier and the nephew of Albert Tisandier. Gaston began to fly in a hot air balloon , then changed them to airships and eventually switched to airplanes . He served as the treasurer of the FAI from the moment of its foundation until 1919, and from 1913 until 1945, the year of his death, he held the post of general secretary of the FAI.
Diploma of Fields Tissandier
The award established by the FAI in 1952 in memory of Paul Tissandier. The diploma is awarded to people who have contributed to the development of private and sports aviation. All who have served the cause of aviation through their labor and initiatives can qualify for this award. The names of candidates for a diploma are proposed by the FAI member countries. Graduation is held at the FAI annual conference.
