Anchor lwt

Anchor LWT American destroyer "Mahan" .
The LWT anchor for the destroyer Ross (on the right) is the second camp on this ship, along with the Boldt anchor (on the left).

Anchor LWT (LWT - short for English “lightweight” - lightweight) - an anchor of increased holding power, is a modification of Danfort's anchor .

The design is lightweight, the lobe-shaped paws are pointed and as close as possible to the spindle, which allows the anchor to go deep into the ground. The stock is located on the trend . It acts as a stabilizer and allows you to avoid anchoring overturning when dragging along the bottom.

The increased holding power of the LWT anchor makes it possible to reduce its mass by 25% compared to conventional anchors, which makes it especially attractive for use on light-tonnage vessels. However, it is used on large ships as a second stanchion or reserve anchor.

The disadvantages of the LWT anchor include poor holding capacity on stony soils and the possibility of stock bending.
