Dobrov, Sergey Alekseevich

Sergei Dobrov was born in Moscow on May 16, 1884 in the family of a doctor. In 1907 he entered Moscow University at the natural branch of the Faculty of Physics and Mathematics. In 1912 he graduated from the university with a diploma of I degree. In 1913-1922 he worked at the university as an assistant in the department of geology. Since 1914 he worked in the Geological Committee. He was one of the students of A.P. Pavlov . In 1930-1942 he worked in the Moscow Geological Department. Since 1942, he again worked at Moscow University. In 1952 he retired, but nevertheless continued paleontological research. He died in Moscow on June 26, 1959 . He was buried at the Vagankovsky cemetery ^{[3] [1]} .

Dobrov has published over 40 scientific papers. He was a specialist in stratigraphy and paleontology of chalk. He participated in the publication of a geological map of the European part of the USSR. He was engaged in hydrogeological and engineering-geological surveys. Part of Dobrov’s work is devoted to mineral resources and groundwater of the Moscow Region. He took part in the construction of the Moscow-Volga canal , conducted an examination of the geological conditions of the structures ^{[3] [1]} .
