In 1204, after the death of Shirvanshah Fariburz II, his brother Farrukhzad became the ruler of Shirvan at an advanced age. Very little information remains about Shirvanshah Farrukhzad I.
The name of Shirvanshah Farrukhzad I, the son of Minuchihr III, is mentioned on the building inscription at the entrance to the Pir-Mardakan Mausoleum in the Shemakha region of Azerbaijan [1] .
